It is with pleasure that Chapter 531, Military Order of the Purple Heart announces the inaugural recipient of the Northeast Georgia, MOPH scholarship. Maria Munoz has been awarded $500 for the Spring semester. Maria is a Junior at the University of Georgia, majoring in Anthropology. She plans to attend graduate school in Cultural Anthropology upon the completion of her undergraduate degree. Maria grew up in a military family. Her father was in the Army and later in the Coast Guard. Maria was an E-4 in the Air Force, with an MOS in operations intelligence. She was stationed in Korea with the 607th Air Operations Center, then in Germany with the 52nd Operations Support Squadron. While in Germany she went to Afghanistan, working in the Joint Operations Center.
