MOPH Chapter 531, Northeast Georgia, Commander, Brian West presents MOPH JROTC Leadership award to Sgt.1st Class, Samuel Davidson of the Banks County High School, JROTC, on Awards Day held on 05-16-2016 at Banks County High School. In addition to Samuel Davidson being an exceptional cadet and student, Samuel is an outstanding athlete. Just days before these ceremonies Samuel finished in 9th Place in the Georgia State two mile run competition. Military Order of the Purple Heart awards Northeast Georgia, MOPH scholarship
It is with pleasure that Chapter 531, Military Order of the Purple Heart announces the inaugural recipient of the Northeast Georgia, MOPH scholarship. Maria Munoz has been awarded $500 for the Spring semester. Maria is a Junior at the University of Georgia, majoring in Anthropology. She plans to attend graduate school in Cultural Anthropology upon the completion of her undergraduate degree. Maria grew up in a military family. Her father was in the Army and later in the Coast Guard. Maria was an E-4 in the Air Force, with an MOS in operations intelligence. She was stationed in Korea with the 607th Air Operations Center, then in Germany with the 52nd Operations Support Squadron. While in Germany she went to…

Purple Hearts Recognized at UGA vs. Kentucky Game
The University of Georgia sponsored and recognized The Military Order of the Purple Heart along with the military veterans of the UGA Lettermen’s Club at the November 7th football game between UGA and Kentucky. MOPH northeast GA Chapter #531 made all the arrangements for all MOPH members,and their guests throughout GA to attend. Patriots John Dowd and Jim Goff headed up the coordination of the event. Patriot John McGilvray and his wife Janice arranged for all the delicious goodies at the welcoming corner. All the veterans were recognized on the field at halftime with several patriotic musical arrangements by the UGA Redcoat Band.
