Football: Game Day Information
Game Time: 7pm Saturday, 9 Nov Gates open at 5 pm Parking at East Campus Parking Deck (the same location as previous years). For location, see map. Ticket pickup (for those who were not mailed your tickets) is at the entrance to the East Campus Parking Deck. One half hour before game time, any tickets not claimed will be taken to WILL CALL at the stadium. Five minutes before half time, all Purple Heart recipients are invited to gather at the NW corner entrance to the field, where we will be directed onto the field to be honored at half time.

The University of Georgia Athletic Association is honored to provide Veterans, Purple Heart recipients, and a guest with tickets to attend our Military Appreciation game on November 9th vs. Missouri for your service to The United States of America. Purple Heart recipients have given a lot to represent our country, and the UGA Athletic Association would like to take a moment during the game to recognize the attending Purple Heart recipients on-field. UGA Veterans Recognition Game
UGA had Military Appreciation Day at the Georgia vs Kentucky football game, November 18, 2017 at Georgia’s Sanford Stadium. All members and their guests of MOPH Chapters in the Department of Georgia were invited to attend. Chapter 531, NE GA under coordination by Senior Vice Commander, John Dowd helped to make the event a very smooth running event. Fun was had by all along the sidelines and on the field with the Georgia Red Coat Band playing patriotic and military music saluting the Purple Hearters lined up on the field during halftime. Purple Hearts Recognized at UGA vs. Kentucky Game
The University of Georgia sponsored and recognized The Military Order of the Purple Heart along with the military veterans of the UGA Lettermen’s Club at the November 7th football game between UGA and Kentucky. MOPH northeast GA Chapter #531 made all the arrangements for all MOPH members,and their guests throughout GA to attend. Patriots John Dowd and Jim Goff headed up the coordination of the event. Patriot John McGilvray and his wife Janice arranged for all the delicious goodies at the welcoming corner. All the veterans were recognized on the field at halftime with several patriotic musical arrangements by the UGA Redcoat Band. John Hancock Honored at Atlanta Braves game
U.S Navy Captain, retired, John Hancock was honored at the Atlanta Braves game August 15th, during Military Honors Night. John Hancock, a member of MOPH Chapter #531, NE Georgia was a WWII veteran who saw extensive combat action in the Pacific. He was a 17-year-old seaman manning a 50 caliber water cooled machine gun firing at the Japanese aircraft attacking his ship, the USS Yorktown during the Battle of Midway. John Hancock after recovering from his wounds at the Battle of Midway, went to flight school and became a fighter pilot, flying the F6F “Hellcat”, off the carriers Bon Hom Richard, Essex, and Saratoga. John Hancock is not only an American hero but an American Treasure.
